European Court of Human Rights condemns Russia in Three Chechen Cases

The European Court of Human Rights today condemned Russia in three cases related to the mass killing of civilians in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, Chechnya. The Russian authorities were held responsible for violation of the right of life in all three cases.

European Court of Human Rights to Rule in Three Chechen Cases

On 4 October 2007, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will hand down judgments in three cases concerning the mass killing of civilians in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, Chechnya. Russian federal forces killed at least 51 civilians in the Staropromyslovsky district between late December 1999 and early February 2000.
