Russian Government Rejects Registration of Russian Justice Initiative for Second Time

Russia's Federal Registration Service (FRS) has refused to register the representative office of Russian Justice Initiative (RJI) in Moscow for a second time. The refusal comes just one day after the European Court of Human Rights found Russia guilty of torturing two Chechens in custody.

The European Court of Human Rights will rule on the case concerning torture in Chechnya on 18 January 2007. The judgment will be the first in a string of torture cases from Chechnya lodged with the Court.
